whipped-cream-700x350So, the holidays are approaching fast and we have Halloween and Thanksgiving basically around the corner. If you plan on making some pies or purchasing some pre-made ones  for the holidays ahead, try jazzing it up without the pre-made cool-whip or frozen whipped cream: make it yourself!

If you haven’t tried homemade whipped cream before, I assure you (like any other homemade thing) it is leaps and bounds beyond the manufactured processed stuff. The recipe is so incredibly easy to make, once you make it, you will probably not buy that other stuff again!

On to the recipe…it’s three ingredients!

1 cup heavy cream (sometimes referred to as Heavy Whipping cream)

2 or 3 table spoons of sugar (you can use Stevia if you’re watching your sugar intake)

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Place a deep stainless steel bowl or metal mixing canister into the freezer just until chilled, about 10 minutes (you can make whipped cream with a room temperature bowl, but chilling it makes the cream set up faster)

Pour the cream, sugar and vanilla into your container and using a hand mixer with a whisk attachment (you can use regular beaters but it might take a little longer) beat ingredients until desired fluffy-ness. The longer you beat the thicker it will get, but be careful, you’re not making butter here!

And there you have it! Super easy delicious homemade whipped cream! You can add other extracts for different flavors, such amaretto or pepper mint. If you’re feeling chocolate, add 1 table spoon of cocoa powder and BAM, chocolate whipped cream.
