Lose Control by Lay: Album Recommendation

YES! Lay (real name: Zhang Yixing) has finally released his solo album Lose Control. Lay is actually the last remaining Chinese member in my fav boy band EXO, so of course, I had to share his hard work with you all. I’m totally in love with these tracks because of how well Lay has composed, arranged, and written for every one of them. You can tell the love he has for his craft with how put together these songs are, and how they compliment each other. I can somehow feel a growing styling in his music with this album. It’s sweet and mellow, a perfect listen for late nights. The song that resonates with me the most is “Relax”. “Relax” perfectly fits in with the late night floaty feels when you’re about to go to sleep.

And because this post is about sharing Lay’s composed songs, I just want to also share this song he wrote for fans in an earlier EXO album. This song definitely hits lots of strong emotional notes.

Jay Park X 1MILLION / Jay Park – All I Wanna Do (Feat.Hoody, Loco): Song Recommendation + Cool Choreo

Another fantabulous music video collab has appeared! Here we have Korean dance studio 1Million dancing alongside Jay Park for his song “All I Wanna Do”. This Korean hip-hop track has lots of smooth R&B elements mixed in. The jam worthy song perfectly allows for the creation of amazing choreography. It’s so nice to see Jay Park dance throughout this whole video alongside a popular dance studio. Their performance together is flawless. I also gotta give a shout out to AOMG labelmates Hoody on providing her sweet vocals and Loco for his rich rap. Whenever I hear this song, I can’t help but move along with the beat.

Native Instruments Controller

I recently purchased my very own controller, a Traktor S5 controller. I started getting back into producing music and DJ-ing, simply out of inspiration from other artists that I look up to. I really appreciate the direction that technology and music, sound design for that matter, are going. I feel really good about purchasing a Native Instruments device. The product is built very well, quality is pristine with LCD screens to display options and wave forms. I’ll get to use my new piece of equipment for a live audience this sunday November 5th for a private house party. I’ll be hooking it up to Abelton Live 9 software. I’m not entirely sure how to use it all the way through since I just got it but so far I got the basics down lol.

The vote is in. At least for me.

This past week I’ve voted for the 2016 presidential election.

Although there are 27,000 students on The University of Texas at Dallas campus, I only saw two booths operated by student organizations that assisted with registering students to vote for the 2016 presidential election. It’s my personal belief that if the student body holistically were exposed to politics Bernie Sanders would be still be in the race right now. I find it ridiculous that on the second day of early voting at 8:00am that my friend and I were the only young people in line to vote that morning. These early votes do count. Also at the same time, Bernie Sanders seems very elderly and deranged, delivering his message in a similar fashion to Donald Trump. However, He was going against Hilary in her own party, whereas if he ran for office as a republican, he could’ve possibly won against Trump and currently be up against Hilary.

Since Sanders is Jewish he probably would have balance the budget greatly lol! But you know congress would’ve got in the way. Their gonna sh*t on him in congress because they’re a bunch of protestant as*holes and Obama (Dr. President Obama) being black was a big effing deal to them. Not just him being black but also a Democrat from Harvard you know, really the best. He’s the most credible to be president and everyones hates him so much. He’s passionate, he loves this country and he is a normal person. And I think if everything goes well I think our country will change for the better, and the whole planet too by Globally with cutting down carbon dioxide emissions.

Indulgent Hazelnut Meringue Tower | Gordon Ramsay-Video Recommendation

In this video, Gordon Ramsay shows how to assemble this decadent dessert. Some prior kitchen knowledge of meringues and the alike is expected when watching this recipe.

Short post tonight, but go head and watch the video. At 1 minute and 47 seconds, it’s a quick watch that might inspire you to get out those eggs and separate those egg whites!

Peaceful Cuisine-How to make Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: Video Recommendation/Recipe

Peaceful Cuisine is a YouTube channel operated by  Ryoya Takashima. He creates healthy vegan dishes while adopting a relaxing, dialogue free format.

I just recently discovered this channel a few weeks ago and what attracted me was not only his great recipes, but the way he films and paces his videos. Honestly, they are so well thought out and executed that the videos take on a form of art.

In this video he creates a vegan version of classic mint chocolate chip flavored ice-cream, using some unlikely ingredients in the process, such as cacao butter and powder to make his own chocolate.

Depending on your bent of mind and your attention span, you will either find his process intriguing and entertaining or straight up boring. But personally I enjoy his format: it’s a nice change of pace from the overly sensationalized and loud food programming you find everywhere else.

Defining Seinen and Josei

Seinen and josei are the adult equivalent to shounen and shoujo. And by adult, I don’t mean r-rated content (thought I’m sure there are some out there). The target audience for the seinen and josei genres are all adult aged and the narratives tend to vary based on which audience the work is targeting.

Despite targeting an older audience compared to its younger, shounen counterpart, several seinen shows could be easily mistaken for a series geared towards little girls. Much like how My Little Pony became a hit with older males in the west, the same can be said for the magical girl genre. In fact majority of recent, popular magical girl anime cater to the older male demographic. Shows very clearly aimed at otaku are also more likely to fall under this genre. Why? Because adult males are more likely to have money to spend on merchandise compared to teenage boys. While there have been seinen shows in the past that featured an adult cast, for the most part, works within this demographic tend to be littered with colorful magical girls, cute girls with one note personalities that correspond to a specific fetish, and hapless male protagonists that somehow always manages to get several attractive girls to fall for him. While they aren’t as common as the otaku-centric shows mentioned, there have also been cases where seinen works feature a narrative and cast that’s capable of appealing to a broader audience and feature a tone and story line that might as well place it from a completely different demographic…and it probably should.

In stark comparison to its male counterpart, majority of josei shows are easily identifiable as they tend to have adult aged protagonists and feature more mature narratives that tend to delve deeper into serious issues compared to its younger, shoujo counterpart. While there certainly have been teenaged protagonists and high school settings in the past, for the most part, works within the josei genre have consistently produced stories that were clearly written with an adult female audience in mind.

So unlike shoujo and shounen, there is no line between josei and seinen and it’s much easier to tell the two genres apart.

man I’m way behind

Have you ever gotten super focused about dealing with something immediate in your life? like an exam or a big project due soon and found that you lose touch of literally everything else? i find i have no idea whats going on with everything in particular new movies and tv shows I want to see. my goodness i haven’t been on Netflix in so long. theres so much to do so many things i could watch and play. I want to see the new seasons of Gotham ,flash, arrow, daredevil. and now theres Jessica jones and luke cage and legends of tomorrow and vikings and the list just goes on and on. not to mention the world of gaming. all sorts of cool stuff coming out every month.i don’t own a console or windows machine so i have never seriously played but there are still many titles i would be very interested in. skyrim could entertain me for months as well as battlefield I’m sure. I could likely spend 50% of my waking hours consuming truly worthy content and never get through all of it. The unfortunate truth is you have to prioritize. It would not be healthy for me to go to work and go to school and then every other spare moment consuming media all day long. neither would I want to. I am aware of many people who live that way though.

At some point people are so enthralled with fictitious stories and worlds unlike ours that they forget to live. Many people try to make themselves a character in their favorite fantasies and keep pushing to feel important or they keep looking for that perfect life filled with the right amount of adventure and danger and excitement and happiness and peace . Unfortunately what these people are looking for cannot be found in a fairy tale. I understand that many people like myself look at the world that we live in and would rather pretend we live in another realm in a perfectly fabricated world. These are the people that fill the world of the matrix. We all have our own little matrix we choose to exist in because we don’t want to deal with reality in all its inevitable pain and suffering. However living in these fantasies is only a substitute for the real thing. There is hope for such  joy that can be fealt beyond the pain.Seldom will anyone find the life they desire because it is hidden from them and because we don’t see it in front of us we don’t run to it because how else could we believe its there? The mountain peak is hidden above a dense and seemingly endless forest like the forrest of mirkwood in the hobbit. We may know intellectually that our destination  lies beyond but in the thickness we cant tell that we have made any progress. will we ever leave this thick shroud?Ironically enough i just used a fairy tale to describe life. Thats the paradigm,we live for these fairy tales but these fairy tales are depicting real life! Don’t  substitute the stories for reality but use them the way they are intended. these stories help us realize and remember that the world we live in is an adventure filled with all sorts of plot twists  and turns and in the thick of it we forget that we are a part of a grand adventure. If you were Bilbo the hobbit in the forrest you would feel much the same as you do now. These stories remind us of hope and should encourage us to live passionately . If you idolize and fixate on the world of a good story you are missing the whole point .These stories are there to remind us of the grand adventure we are caught up in or at least the adventure we can have if we choose to follow the path.
