1980s: College band-mates Peter Gotcher and Evan Brooks created a way to record drum and percussions sounds onto EPROM chips.

They began to sell a variety of drum samples such as electronic, Latin, Rock and sound effects. 

In 1984 drum chip sales hiked up to the tens of thousands. Profits allowing them to develop software and hardware for sound design.
